What taxes do you pay when buying a property in Andalusia?

On a resale property you pay Property Transfer Tax (Impuesto de Transmisiones Patrimoniales), which in Andalusia has a general rate of 7%. On a new build you pay VAT (IVA, 10% for homes) plus Stamp Duty (Actos Jurídicos Documentados). On top of that come notary and Land Registry fees and, where applicable, mortgage arrangement costs. We give you a written estimate before you reserve.

What are the steps to buying a property?

Property search and viewings, price negotiation, reservation or deposit contract (arras), obtaining your NIE and a bank account if you are a foreign national, Land Registry and planning checks and, finally, signing the title deed before a notary.
