Common questions
Frequently asked questions
What documents do I need to apply for an NIE?
It depends on your situation (the reason for your application and whether or not you are an EU citizen), but you will usually need a valid passport or identity document, the relevant application form, proof of the reason for applying (a property purchase, contract, studies, employment, etc.) and payment of the fee. We review your case, tell you exactly what you need and prepare the paperwork.
How long does a procedure take? Can you get the appointment for me?
Timescales depend on the procedure and on the availability of the office concerned (Immigration Office, Police, Town Hall, etc.). The biggest factors are the prior appointment (cita previa) and having your documents in order. We help you secure an appointment whenever the system allows, prepare everything so that it is submitted without errors, and follow up on your case.
Can I open a bank account as a non-resident?
In many cases, yes. Some banks open accounts for non-residents, but they usually ask for specific documents (passport, proof of address and, sometimes, a non-resident certificate). We advise you according to your profile and accompany you when opening the account.
What is a digital certificate for and how do I get one?
It allows you to carry out procedures with the Spanish authorities online – submitting applications, signing documents, checking the status of your files – without having to go in person. We help you apply for it and verify your identity, and we install it on your computer or mobile phone for you.
